Privacy Policy

This website is operated by Kelton Shockey (the practice doing business as ModelCounsel). This policy covers the website only — confidential information handled in an actual attorney-client engagement is governed by the engagement terms and the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct, not this policy.

What we collect

• Waitlist / contact form: if you choose to submit the form, the name, work email, company, stage, and free-text details you enter. The form opens a pre-filled message in your own email application — you decide whether to send it. We don't run a server that silently captures form data.
• No tracking: this site uses no analytics, advertising, social, or third-party tracking scripts, and sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
• Server logs: the web server may keep standard technical logs (e.g., IP address, browser type, time) for security and operation, as is typical for any website.
• Fonts: the site loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address to deliver the font files.

Local storage in the interactive tools

The interactive explainers (e.g., the security-questionnaire and IP checklists) save your answers in your browser's local storage on your device so your progress persists. That information is not transmitted to us. Clear your browser storage to remove it.

How we use information

We use the contact details you send only to respond to you about the practice and, if you ask, to add you to the waitlist. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Retention

We keep waitlist/contact messages only as long as needed to respond and maintain the waitlist, then delete them. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security.

Your choices & rights

You can ask us what contact information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and opt out of the waitlist at any time — just email us (see Contact). Residents of jurisdictions with privacy laws (e.g., the Colorado Privacy Act, California's CCPA/CPRA, or the EU/UK GDPR) may have additional rights, including access and deletion; we honor applicable requests. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under US state privacy laws.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; please don't send sensitive or confidential information through the website form.

Cookies & storage notice

This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. It uses only your browser's local storage to remember your progress in the interactive tools, as described above. Because there is no tracking, there is no consent banner.

Terms of use

This website is provided for general information. By using it you agree that:

Attorney advertising & jurisdiction

This website is attorney advertising. Kelton Shockey is licensed only in Colorado (Bar #51263) and is registered with the USPTO (Reg. #78198); he is not admitted in Washington. Services are scoped to jurisdictions of admission (or federal matters such as patent and TCPA), with appropriately licensed co-counsel for other states. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
